Detox Day Four

Awwww!

Another disappointment. But I guess not a terrible one. At least it hasn't gone up again. Maybe I'll see some progress tomorrow.

When I was researching my nasty carb withdrawls, on Day Two, I ran across some advice against weighing in every day, particularly for women, who apparently lose weight more slowly than men. Because this is the case, and because women hit more plateaus than men, it can be discouraging to weigh daily.

But if I don't weigh daily and post it, I will be less motivated, I think. Making goals public, even anonymously, gives one a sense of commitment.

I am committed to sharing this detox experience with you.

Detox Day Three

WOW! The feet need a little more work, but how 'bout that number on the scale?

I was really relieved to see progress this morning, after seeing no results the day before. And yesterday was a very difficult day.

You see, I was experiencing carb withdrawls because this detox plan has about zero carbs. I had a headache and felt dizzy and lightheaded and just generally unwell. I was really, really hungry and really, really, really tempted to cheat, which would have been the same as quitting.

But what I read on the internet indicated that these symptoms usually pass by day 5. So I decided to tough it out. I feel a little icky today, but nothing like yesterday. I'll probably feel fine by tomorrow.

I'm crossing my fingers for another down day on the scale. Wish me luck!

Day Two

Well...at least the toes look a little better.

Of course, I feel discouraged that the scale hasn't budged. However, I have (mostly) publicly declared my intentions, so I'm going to stick with it for at least 16 days.

If anyone decides to read this, they may wonder, why specifically "detox?"

In the U.S. our environment is polluted with hundreds of toxic chemicals that enter our systems constantly. Even newborn babies have measurable amounts of around 200, 200,  chemicals in their systems. At the same time, obesity has become epidemic. I, for one, think there is a link. Even if there isn't, I'll feel better knowing I've done what I can to clean out my system.

Keep rooting for me!

Detox Diet Day One

OMG! I really need a pedicure.

Oh yeah. I also need to lose about 80 pounds...

To that end I am starting a very public, but anonymous, detox diet. It's based on a detox I did nearly ten years ago. It worked out pretty well then. Hopefully, with the little tweaks I've made to it, it will work out just as well, or even better, this time.

Here's me today...

and in sixteen days, the length of this detox diet, I'll post the new (hopefully slimmer and healthier) me.

To keep myself honest, I'll post my morning weigh in each day.

Also, I'll be sharing my detox diet techniques. So come back often and cheer me on!
